Japanese Wet-Style Sharpening

At Samurai Sharpening, our unique Japanese wet scissor sharpening gives you the edge. When using our specialised machine, we can set angles to within a half a degree so that the cool wet blades maintain a sharper edge longer.

With every sharpen, we do a minimum of 14 processes to each blade—the final two being factory polishes. We sharpen Bevel Clamshell, Texturisers, Thinners and left handed scissors. Please note: a dry sharpen will need six wet sharpens to return the steel to factory temper.

Dressmaking scissors and the like can be done on a grinder, but the results will quickly show. At Samurai Sharpening, we only sharpen using water and a specialised hand powered machine we bought from the USA, where we were correctly trained to use this unit.

After sharpening, we test each pair cutting silk or similar to ensure the blade cuts cleanly and smoothly along the blade to the tip. Over the years, we have made many clients very happy that they can use their scissors again with ease.
